NEW SONG SATURDAY: BE STILL

Posted 4 years ago by Anne

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

Psalm 46:10

While this song isn't completely "new" - we recorded it a while back as part of our Fall Jam 2017 session - we felt that it was a good time to re-record it in a totally new style.

This song is taken heavily from Psalm 46 and Revelation 1:10 - 17. Psalm 46 is such a rich passage of scripture. “Be still, and know that I am God” is the most well known verse in the Psalm, and we can tend to boil it down to simply be a phrase of comfort - but take some time to read the whole chapter. Look at the awe of verses 8 and 9.

Our peace is not superficial; it does not come only in seasons beside the still waters of Psalm 23, but also in the midst of chaos. We are living in tumultuous times, and our nation seems to be under principalities of chaos and confusion. And yet, brothers and sisters, our King is still on His throne; and He has made us to shine in days like these. As we look to our Father, the One who can raise or level a nation with one word, whose perfection shines like the sun, we can know this:

We serve a mighty God who is still in control.

And in this knowledge, we can be still.
